What is it that makes your Products so unique?

We are the only custom seating manufacturer that builds a system from the ground up for each and every order we process.  Except for the hardware and fasteners none of the elements of the seat or back are pre-made or mass produced. Each ABS shell and plywood base is cut specifically to conform to the dealer’s specifications regarding the wheelchair frame, contours of the mold, drawings or any other details provided.  You’ll notice from our portfolios that each system is uniquely different and extensively detailed both inside and out.  We stand behind our work 100%.

Can you explain your fabrication techniques in more detail?

There are literally no limitations to the shapes and contours that we can build into our products. When working from either a plaster mold or digitized carving we first determine how the system will be installed to the mobility base. From there we design patterns for both the seat base and backrest shell. The computer images are then detailed to conform to specific requests made by the dealer or/and the requirements of the attaching components. The final drawings are then converted to machine code and cut by our CNC router. The foam lamination process and the detailing of digitized carvings is handled by expert technicians. Each technician follows very specific formulas and quality control guidelines. Once completed the entire order is assembled and prepared for upholstery or shipped to the dealer for a trial fitting. Since many of the clients are severely, orthopedically involved, we encourage trial fittings to ensure a high quality end product.

How do I know that your product is right for my client?

We expect our dealers to be very well versed on the subjects of mobility aids, skin management and custom seating. We also expect that each dealer will make decisions in conjunction with medical professionals who are familiar with their client’s disability and history. Additionally, by offering the opportunity for a trail fitting the dealer and therapist can further confirm that their original recommendations and subsequent adjustments are appropriate for their client’s present and future needs.CUSHMAKER.com does not make any such determination for the end user nor do we involve ourselves in specific medical management decisions.
