Cushmaker.com Receives Coding Verification from SADMERC

The employees of CUSHMAKER.com are proud to announce that their company has received coding verification on two of their custom molded seating products. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued letters of acknowledgement to the company indicating that their custom molded seat cushions (MS0001) qualified as K0658 and their custom molded back cushions (MB0001) qualified as K0666. With these code verifications both products can be fabricated by CUSHMAKER.com using either of two manufacturing techniques: Made-per-mold hand lamination from a plaster mold or the OBSS post-carving-detail process. Additionally, each product is fully reimbursable according to the current Medicare, by report, fee schedule for custom seating.

As of 1 November 2004, CUSHMAKER.com is one of only four companies in the USA to receive coding verification from SADMERC for custom fabricated seat cushions and one of only two companies to have a separate back cushion that is code verified. “We are proud of that distinction,” says company president, Richard Pasillas. “With almost 20 years experience fabricating custom seating systems we have known for quite a while that our products are of exceptional quality and functionality. Now the whole country knows,” he added.

CUSHMAKER.com manufactures a variety of custom seating systems configured for sitting, prone, supine and side-lying wheelchair occupants. Traditionally, the company selects from a variety of component manufacturers to design, fabricate and assemble systems for consumers presenting with moderate to severely complex seating requirements.

The two custom cushions to receive coding verification from CMS are fabricated from either a plaster body mold or digitized mold of the client using the “mold-to-patient-model technique”. The products are then either hand laminated by technicians or robotically carved using the OBSS CAD-CAM technology.
